Description

Once, when Pandora was very young, and not long after she'd met and become friends with Cupcake, she suddenly fell very, very sick. A mysterious disease left her weak and bed-bound, shaking with fever and whimpering for her mother. Medical tests yielded hardly any information, and it was suggested to Twilight that perhaps a union between an alicorn and an ancient draconequus chaos monster had produced a child that was inherently magically unstable. Perhaps it was simply a miracle that Pan, being a technical abomination, had lived as long as she had, and now nature was simply running it's course for the little cub. Twilight of course refused to hear anymore of it and demanded more medical attention for her daughter, and she and Discord tended tirelessly to Panny's needs. The constant need to care for her sick baby left Twilight incredibly stressed and irritable with other ponies, and she sort of quit her princess duties for a while due to anxiety.

Cupcake came to visit Pan every day after school, and it'd always cheer the little cub up, just a little. One day, after Pan's condition had gotten worse, Cupcake borrows a move from her party planner parents and tries to lift Pan's spirit the best way she knows how...with a present.

Pandora is indeed very surprised by the gesture, and takes the present with weak, trembling paws. It's a simple, silly gift-a little purple cat toy shaped like a mouse, with a bell on the end of its tail. Pinkie Pie had named it "Mister Jingles", because of the jingley sound it made when played with.

Cupcake was a little sheepish when Pan went silent-maybe this was a stupid idea? But then suddenly Pandora was crying, and Cupcake panicked, but it was a happy, joyful cry, because Pandora had never had a friend before, she's never had a friend give her a gift before, and suddenly those little paws are hugging Cupcake with surprising strength.

Pan eventually recovered, and of course her friendship with Cupcake only grew. The toy mousie was a source of ultimate comfort to Pan while she was sick, and later whenever she was feeling sad or lonely. Many, many years later.....Cupcake will be quite surprised to find that Pan still has Mister Jingles, a little worn, but still completely treasured, and lovingly played with, every so often.
