1.) Moondancer can easily perform magic tricks (bunny out of a hat, card tricks, escape arts, etc) without using any actual magic from his horn. He learned it all as a colt through his mother Trixie, but now considers it rather childish and not fit for a real sorcerer. After all, it's not real magic, just cheap tricks. Still, it entertains the kiddies so maybe it's not all bad

a lot of ya'll demanded that filly be given a whole backstory and bio and role in the story, holy hell she's just a random background character

2.) Bruce had a an older brother that died before he was born. His sudden death (drowned) wrecked Bruce's parent's already flickering marriage and turned his father into a cold tyrant and his mum into a depressed alcoholic. Bruce's parents are shown/described here: lopoddityart.tumblr.com/post/1…

Note their physical differences between Butch and Bruce. Butch is strong, well-fed, and groomed decently. Bruce was born a runt, and his growth was stunted due to poor nutrition (His mother was trying her best, but she was a depressed alcoholic, so sometimes she just…forgot to feed Bruce. He learned to steal food from his schoolmates’ lunchboxes.) Bruce was a poor, scruffy colt, and quickly established himself as a school bully to avoid being picked on himself.  

Butch was everything his father, Cutthroat, could have ever wanted. Tough, smart, assertive, an excellent fisherpony, the perfect young colt. His death left Cutthroat ruined, and he channeled his grief into rage and cruelty, typically directed at his younger son Bruce, who could never measure up to perfect Butch. His mother Fey blamed herself for Butch’s death (he drowned on her watch), and grew more depressed and neglectful every day. So Bruce lived out his childhood in the shadow of a dead brother he never knew existed.
