This day was going to be perfect by Lopoddity This day was going to be perfect by Lopoddity
BUT THEN YOU FUCKED IT UP TWILIGHT

Part 6 in the ongoing series of Lopoddity ripping off previous compositions and concepts. Here we have Chrysalis, mid-transformation from Princess Cadence. She wants your LOOOOOVE

I love Chrysalis. She's my fav after Discord. Mostly cause she's actually pretty scary, when you think about it. Not only is she the only MLP villain to actually defeat Princess Celestia in combat, she also kidnaps and impersonates loved ones and uses magic to manipulate minds. In theory, she could feed off someone's love indefinitely, leaving them a withered husk. And she left Twilight and Cadence down in an abandoned mine, presumably to die.
But she's also kind of tragic. What sort of existence is there for a changeling? They need love to live. The poor things are forced to lie and invade and devour, just to survive. I wish the show would have spent more time with them, and Chrysalis. Oh well.

Also the new episode had Trixie being super adorable HNNG

lol this may or may not be a WIP, i dunno
this piece is too static and Chrysalis looks like a bloody dragon
EDIT: Decided to continue this piece. To the scrapbook with thee!

The overall quality of the art piece is outstanding. I do agree with your initial observation that she appears more draconic than necessary. However, the draconic characteristics invoke greater feelings of terror and fear, and add copious amounts of an evil appearance to what is already perceived as a villain.

It does not, however, give a very good impression of a "transformation," looking more like an intentional halfway mark. in other words, it looks more like an intentional mix of draconic, changeling, and pony makeup to create some sort of horrifically frightening creature that would scare anypony into a state of irreversible insanity, rather than fluid transformation from a changeling queen to a pony princess.

The lighter patches on her skin are what I assume is Cadance's fur, rather than scales. The scale-like appearance could be avoided if drawn with more fluid motion, and if more patches were faded to look as though they are "appearing" from her skin. As it stands now, the blocky nature of the patches give the fur a more scaly look, and thus give Chrysalis a more draconic feel. Well, that and the mouth full of sharp teeth.

In summation, while this does not invoke a "transformation" sequence, it does scare the the living daylights out of me. Excellent work.

In one word, this is amazing. Not only have you made this very scary, you've drawn it beautifully. I like how you've put Cadences mane instead of a changeling one. And you're right, Chrysalis is kind of tragic aswell as terrifying. The technique is perfect, you've made it digital, but still keeping the traditional style.

This is very original, and I could write pages of how good this is. But, this reminds me of a picture that I think you drew, based on the picture Nightmare Night.

Your vision is twisted but interested and I like the fact that you have used that to your advantage.

though she only beat celestia by some luck. she just happened to have fed enough on shining to overpower her. then again we also could factor in that if celestia broke contact the blst could have destroyed the cieling, and also that celestia has fr more magical knowledge. she might not have had that much power but she could have outmagicked chrysalis given the chance.
her normal strength is probably lacking in comparison but likely more powerful than most unicorns.

Not to mention that changelings are literally made of nightmare fuel when rendered realistically.

HNNG.... this is so good.

I feel you really captured the nature of her character here in this breakthrough moment of her primal cruelty through the exterior shell of a loving cadence.

Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love this piece.

Chrysalis:... and then I got psoriasis!

(Hee hee, the flakey-looking skin triggered my biomedical memory database.)
