Vogue and Phoenix eventually end up in a relationship but it's kiiiinda dysfunctional and they butt heads a lot. Toss in Vogue's inability to relax and Nix's struggles with intimacy, and boom, you understand the reason they'd be on-again, off-again constantly. They do love each other very much, but have trouble expressing it (*cough* mostly phoenix *cough*), so they fall into a cycle of breaking up (read: Vogue dumping Phoenix), dating new people (usually Vogue politely, boredly entertaining the courtship of a stallion noble or two)....until Phoenix pops back up, blah blah, belligerent sexual tension, inexplicable passionate desperate sex, blah blah waking up in the morning with regrets dammit nixie why can't you tell me you love me already

If they ever do work out, I'd imagine they take a looooong time to form a healthy relationship dynamic (phoenix get your shit together already)
