so after this: I got a few requests to see young!Cutthroat and Fey. Who am I to deny ya'll some young, doomed romance, it's one of my favorite love tropes

Cutthroat (he went by Ishmael back then, no gross throat scar yet) pretty much resembled a bigger, stronger version of Bruce. In high school he was probably captain of the hoofball team (or maybe rugby), while Fey was captain of the swim team. He got a lot of attention from the young mares in town, but being kind of a workaholic grumpy-pants, he didn't really notice them. He's always been sort of a bully, and he simply didn't have time for soft, fluff-headed mares. Not til a pretty, pretty young thing by the name of Fey Ocean tapped him on the shoulder once day and boldly asked him out, flustering Cutthroat for the first time in his life.

Fey came from a wealthy, high-class family, so entering Cutthroat's world of high seas sailing, beer in dive bars, and treasure hunting was all very exciting for her, and she became very infatuated with the handsome stallion (and he could be such a sweet gentleman sometimes, albeit a clumsy, awkward one). It was so thrilling dating somepony so rough-and-tumble, a stallion her parents didn't approve of. Cutthroat fell completely head over hooves for her, spoiling her as best as he could, gentle to her like he was to nopony else. They burned hot together for about a year, and there was even talk about running away together and getting married after they graduated. They were simply young, dumb kids in love, before everything went to hell
