Mother of Discord

"Stop that incessant squirming at once, child. Do you want me to drop you?"

"I can't, Mommy, I'm too excited! I've never met allie-corns before! Do you think they're nice?"

"It's pronounced 'alicorns', dear. And yes, for all our sakes, I hope they're nice."

"I heard ponies sell milk that comes in different flavors! Even chocolate! Do you think I can try chocolate milk someday, Mommy?"

"I'm sure you can. I'm sure the ponies will be willing to share all sorts of wonderful foods with you. Why, I hear there's even a new little alicorn princess....'Celestia', I believe? Perhaps the two of you can be friends."

-*gasp* "Friends?!"

"...Child, I told you to cease that squirming!"

i came up with the concept of Discord's mother more than a year ago, never got a chance to do anything with her

Her name is Demeter. She is one of the last draconequii, and one of a number of leaders to her dwindling people. Demeter has magic tied to fertility and agriculture, but recent famine, competition for resources, and war have nearly wiped out the draconequii, and she's needed to use every last scrap of her magic just to keep her fellow draconequii from starvation. Demeter is very tired, and food continues to run low for her people. Her new rambunctious cub Discord would be a handful for any mother, let alone one worked to the bone trying to save a dying race. It doesn't help that Discord's odd, mismatched appearance and perplexing magic make him a bit of a freak, even among his own kind. Still, Demeter loves her son, and is willing to attempt a possible alliance with the alicorns if it means giving him a future.

Discord's dad ain't in the picture cuz he died before Discord was born

Demeter is a stern, weary draconequus, but not without her silly side, whenever her stressful circumstances relent and allow her to show it. She wasn't too dignified to blow a raspberry on cubby Discord's tummy if it'd cheer him up. Discord doesn't remember his mother very clearly, but he treasures the few memories he has of her very dearly.
