Personality/Background:
Prima Donna is a child musical prodigy and superstar. Most ponies find her jarringly intelligent and intense for a school aged filly, and are baffled to see her handling her own management decisions and ordering her assistant to fetch her a sugar-free caramel iced coffee. Still, despite her affinity for the music business, she is just a little girl, and not without shortcomings. Her wealthy upbringing under fellow pop superstar mother Sweetie Belle has left her a bit out of touch with "average" ponies. For example, at first she couldn't understand why her best friend Truffles didn't just hire a personal chef and trainer if she wants to lose weight...before realizing that not everypony can afford such luxuries. Whoops. Prima is never malicious, however, and quite kind, but her social obliviousness and blunt honesty can make her come off as cold and insensitive. She's working on it.

Prima's songs are typically empowerment and positivity anthems that reflect her core belief of staying true to oneself and accepting other ponies. This has garnered her quite the fan following across Equestria. Prima loves being in the limelight, and very much enjoys being a celebrity.


Relationships:
Prima has an excellent relationship with her mother Sweetie Belle, who tutored her in music since Prima was old enough to hum a tune. The pressures of being celebrities can be intense, so Sweetie and Prima very much enjoy relaxing together alone, treating themselves to spa days and pigging out on organic ice cream. Sweetie is on tour a lot though, as is Prima, and Prima really wishes she had more time to spend with her dear mummy.

Rumble, Prima's father, is sweet and supportive of his daughter, but is concerned about the possible negative influence fame might have on her. In comparison to Sweetie's and Prima's celebrity status, Rumble is just an ordinary weather factory worker, and sometimes feels left out of their lives. Prima is partly aware of this and sends her daddy boatloads of gifts when she's away, but they only make him miss her more.

Prima dearly loves her older cousin Zipperflash, and the two have a more big brother/little sister bond than anything. She's his number one fan, but shows it through teasing him whenever he gets too cocky in his races. Her nickname for him is "chickenboy", while he fondly calls her "Don".

Prima has a not-quite-friendly rivalry with her other cousin, Magnolia May, in who can dress and style their hair and do their make-up most fabulously. Magnolia is the one who first taught Prima to do all these things, and Prima swears the student has long ago surpassed the master.

Prima's very best friend in the world is Truffles, Apple Bloom's daughter. She always makes time for Truffles and enjoys lavishing her with gifts and compliments, to Truffle's stammering delight

Special:
-Through connections with Sweetie Belle and Aunt Rarity, Prima was able to take private lessons in singing and dancing from megastars Sapphire Shores and Countess Coloratura (whose seems to be especially influential on Prima)

-Prima's father Rumble hails from a pegasi clan with weather based abilities, and this has manifested in Prima via the ability to give thunderous song performances. This magical volume is really useful for belting rock ballads

-Prima Donna was designated male at birth, and her early life was spent as a shy little colt named Bel Canto ("beautiful singing"), before coming out as trans at a young age. Her mother, Magnolia, and Zipperflash were particularly supportive during her transition. More detail on this here:


-Prima isn't very good at interacting with kids her own age. What is she supposed to talk about? Young foals are just so...uncultured, hardly knowing a thing about guitar riffs or gourmet coffee. She's mostly awkward and just hides behind Truffles.

-Prima's hair is naturally a curly mess, and takes a long time to style in her trademark ice cream swirl coiffure. She has very impressive bedhead most mornings.
