Noodle Daughter

"Hey, Mom...you don't think I'm...funny-looking, do you?"

"Hmm. Is that a trick question?"

"Mother, be serious! Yesterday, I overheard a school filly saying I look like...like a big macaroni noodle!"

"Well, that's just silly." Twilight tugged the scarf tighter around her daughter's neck. "You look more like linguine to me."

"Moooooom!" Pandora pouted.

"Hush." Twilight adjusted the knot for what felt like the billionth time, then placed her hoof on Pandora's shoulder. "You may be a big walking noodle, but you're my big walking noodle, Panny. The most beautiful and special noodle in the world." She offered her daughter a sweet, fond smile.

Surprised, Pandora's cheeks went pink, and she tried to look as though she wasn't touched. "Gee, Mom." She fidgeted, embarrassed, "You always know just what to say."

Pan hit a major growth spurt around the age of thirteen and went from fun-sized to nearly three times the length of a pony. She was scared she'd be an awkward, clumsy, gangly looking noodle thing forever, but luckily she grew out of it. Right?
