"Are you awake, koala bear?"


Wave Rider had peeked open an eye to glance around, but at the sound of her father's voice, she shut it, quickly pretending to be fast asleep. It made Bruce chuckle.


"I mean, I'm not complainin' if you are." He mused aloud. "Maybe then you'd actually sleep through the entire night. For once. Give me and Papa a bloody break."


Wavey slyly peeked open one eye, and shot him a quick, discreet glance, before feigning sleep again. Bruce gave a playful little snort.


"Oh give it up, ya little gremlin, you're caught! I know you're awake. Probably woke up just to chug down another gallon of formula. You're gonna eat us outta house and home at this rate! I never knew a teeny ball of fluff an' feathers could be this....ever-expandin' black hole of neediness. You devour all with your mighty gravitational pull. Money, energy, anything edible, my sleep schedule, my sanity, all my free time-would you believe I actually had a social life before you came along?" Bruce huffed down at her, feigning irritation. Wavey let out a little giggle at her father's funny face.


"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up." He pretended to pout. "But believe it or not, my entire bloody world does not revolve around you." He stuck out his tongue at her.


Wave Rider giggled again, and she stuck out her own tongue with a tiny blep, expertly mimicking his action. Bruce swelled with pride. His baby was the smartest baby.


"I'm lying, of course." He leaned down to nuzzle his foal, inhaling her most perfect scent that was him and Stormy, and milk and baby soap and velvet-soft feathers. Wave's little snout crinkled up at the nuzzling, and she sneezed-right into his face, because she was a baby and therefore kind of a tiny jerk, but Bruce loved her anyway. He gently wiped her nose, and she clumsily snuffled her muzzle to his in what was almost a kiss. Bruce smiled, despite himself.


"You're my entire universe, Wavey."

i realized i've never drawn baby wave rider and that needed to be rectified. Featuring exhausted new daddy bruce, he is a very happy dad-mum even if he hasn't slept properly in lord knows how long
